| Q) |
Why are certain words not indexed? |
| A) |
The Microsoft Index Server will not index certain words (exception-words) that are common to nearly all documents.
The list of exception-words is stored in a text file (on the IntraNomic server) named Noise.xxx, where xxx is a three-letter extension that indicates the language of the list. Exception-word lists can be edited with any text-editing program, such as Microsoft WordPad.
When indexing a document, Microsoft Indexing Service ignores the following words, letters, and numbers:

| Q) |
What is the maximum number of documents that Microsoft Index Server can indexed? |
| A) |
Microsoft has not published a limit to the number of documents that Microsoft Index Server can index. Some sites have indexed more than 3,500,000 documents and an IntraNomic customer is currently indexing more than 1,500,000 documents.
It is generally acknowledged with Microsoft Index Server that the size of the Catalogue (index) should not exceed 1 GB. When the Catalogue exceeds 1 GB the index retrieval speed can degrade and the index can become corrupt.
Due to the extendibility of the Global Search module, if the Microsoft Index Server Catalogue becomes too large, it can be easily split into several smaller Catalogues.

| Q) |
Is there a limit to the number of Network Shares or Global Search Add-ons that can be added to the Global Search module? |
| A) |
There is no limit. You can add as many Network Shares or Global Search Add-ons as required.
Each Network Share or Global Search Add-on is assigned a list of people who have access to view its search results. If someone is not assigned to this list, they are shown no details of the Network Share or Global Search Add-on within the Global Search module.
Therefore the more Network Shares or Global Search Add-ons that you are assigned to view, the more time the search will spend gathering the information. IntraNomic recommends that only those people who need to see the results of a Network Share or Global Search Add-on are granted access to that Network Share or Global Search Add-on.

| Q) |
Can the Global Search module search within our internal application databases? |
| A) |
Yes, your organizations developers (or StyleTech) can develop which allow you to extend the Global Search module to search within your internal application databases.
|
| Q) |
Can you increase the maximum number of search results from 1000? |
| A) |
To change the maximum number of search results that are returned, you can change the following IntraNomic database parameter:
| Database: |
db_IntraNomic |
| Table: |
tbl_parameter |
| Key: |
SEARCH MAX RETURN |
| Value: |
Enter the new maximum search result This value is then available within all IntraNomic searches |
