Frequently Asked Questions - IntraNomic Messenger
| Q) |
Can your orgnanization look at the messages people have sent? |
| A) |
To maintain confidentiality, all messages are stored in an encrypted format within the IntraNomic Audit. This stops anyone with access to the IntraNomic database from casually reading the messages.
If your organization wishes to view these messages, they can be sent to StyleTech for decryption. StyleTech will require the authorization of two people within your organization, before the messages are decrypted.

| Q) |
I cannot send an IntraNomic Messenger message to some people on our network? |
| A) |
The IntraNomic Messenger module first tries to contact the recipient of the message via a PING. If the PING is unsuccessful IntraNomic treats the recipient as being offline.
Try to PING the recipient of the message, if the PING fails you need to contact your Network Administrator.

| Q) |
Does IntraNomic work with a client side Firewall (e.g. the Windows XP SP2 Firewall)? |
| A) |
IntraNomic can operate through a client side Firewall, but some configuration on the client might be required (or via Group Policies within Active Directory).
To enable IntraNomic to work with a client side Firewall the following settings need to be allowed:
|
| 1. |
You need to allow communication over Port 6000 (incoming and outgoing). IntraNomic uses the Port defined within the IntraNomic Configuration module (default to 6000) for all communication |
|
| 2. |
You must allow ICMP, as IntraNomic uses PING to ensure the recipient is available |
When a Firewall is enabled but NOT configured on a client you will be unable to receive any Portal call-backs or send any IM message (you will be asked if the IM message should be stored).
The following steps describe the process to allow IntraNomic to communicate through the Windows XP SP2 firewall (enabled by default).
From the "View Network Connections":
|
| 1. |
Right click on the LAN connection with the Firewall |
|
| 2. |
Select the "Advanced" tab |
|
| 3. |
Click on the "Settings" button (this is only enabled, when the Firewall is switched on) |
|
| 4. |
From the "Services" tab, click on the "Add" button |
|
| 5. |
Enter the following details and then click "OK" to save:
|

|
| 8. |
From the "ICMP" tab, ensure that the "Allow incoming echo requests" is selected
The IntraNomic service allows IM messages to be received and the IMCP setting allows Portal call-backs
